Foundations of Community Interpreting

We offer our a 40-hour Foundations of Community Interpreting training designed to build essential skills for interpreters working in community, medical, and educational settings. This interactive course uses curriculum developed by Cross-Cultural Communications (CCC), a nationally recognized leader in interpreter training.

Expert-Led Training by Dolgormaa Hersom

The course is led by Dolgormaa Hersom, President and CEO of House of Languages, and a licensed trainer with CCC. With over two decades of experience in language access and interpreter training, participants gain practical, real-world skills through guided instruction.

Certificate of Completion and Career Advancement

Completing this 40-hour interpreter training and successfully passing the final exam provides a certificate of completion that meets national training standards for community interpreting and serves as a prerequisite for national medical interpreter certification. This is an excellent way to enhance your professional portfolio and demonstrate your commitment to career growth.

  1. General Education:
    All candidates must having at least a high school diploma or GED.
  2. Oral proficiency in English (one of the following):
    • Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD, or any other degree from an institution of higher education in the U.S. or other English language country.
    • High school diploma from a high school in the U.S. or other English language country. 
    • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): 90+ on iBT. 
  3. Oral proficiency in the target language(s) (one of the following): 
    • Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD, or any other degree from an institution of higher education where the target language is spoken.
    • High school diploma from a high school in a country where the target language is spoken.
    • 24+ semester college credit hours of the target language.
    • ACTFL Oral Exams (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages): Advanced Low Level and above (follow this link www.languagetesting.com).

  1. Register and Submit Your Resume:
  2. Complete the registration form and upload your resume showing your experience using your working languages by November 24, 2025.
    • Please make sure your resume includes your most recent college or university attended, with country/state location, language of instruction, degree earned, field of study, and dates attended.
    • Also include your high school or GED information with school name (or GED equivalent), country/state location, language of instruction, and dates attended.

      We will receive your test results directly from LTI. If you meet the minimum proficiency level, you will receive an email with a secure link to pay the $650 training fee to reserve your seat.
